What is leadership coaching and what is clinical supervision?

Leadership coaching supports health professionals to strengthen their impact, navigate challenges, and grow with purpose—whether you’re leading a team, managing organisational change, or developing your own leadership style. It’s a collaborative, reflective space that helps align your values with action and supports sustainable, confident leadership growth and development at any stage of your career.

Clinical supervision is a structured, supportive process that promotes ethical, reflective, and evidence-based practice. It provides a safe space for clinicians to discuss their clinical work, strengthen professional judgement, and maintain wellbeing—helping clinicians grow in skill and confidence across all career stages, reduces feelings of professional isolation and supports clinical governance in organisations.

FAQ

Who is leadership coaching for?

Leadership coaching is for health professionals at any stage of their career. Whether you’re an early-career clinician, a supervisor, team leader, manager, or senior manager/executive, leadership is about influence, growth, and making an impact. Our coaching is tailored to your role, goals, and the unique challenges you face in healthcare leadership.

What areas can leadership coaching support, and why is it relevant for health professionals?

Leadership coaching can support a wide range of focus areas including communication and feedback, team management, conflict resolution, decision-making, time and energy management, emotional intelligence, and aligning leadership with your personal and professional values. It’s especially relevant for health professionals who face the unique pressures of balancing clinical responsibilities, ethical considerations, and leadership demands. Our coaching is grounded in healthcare and leadership science and delivered through a person-centred approach that recognises the complexity of working in health.

What is the difference between leadership and management?

Leadership and management often overlap, but they focus on different aspects of professional practice. Management typically involves planning, organising, and overseeing processes, teams, and resources to meet goals. Leadership, on the other hand, is about inspiring, influencing, and guiding others—whether or not you’re in a formal management role. You can be a leader as a clinician, team member, or supervisor by modelling values, fostering culture and collaboration, and driving positive change. Both are important—and both can be developed.

How is supervision structured?

Sessions are typically one hour and can be held weekly, fortnightly or monthly, depending on your needs and level of experience. We use a collaborative, person-centred approach—drawing on supervision models such as reflective practice, strengths-based frameworks, and adult learning principles. Supervision is provided in both individual and group formats.

What topics can we cover in supervision?

Common topics include ethical dilemmas, challenging clinical cases, managing burnout, scope of practice, boundaries, communication, clinical reasoning, or navigating team dynamics. It’s shaped by your needs.

A supervision agreement and plan are developed at the start of supervision and regularly reviewed to ensure your goals are being met and the supervision continues to align with your evolving professional needs.

Can supervision count toward professional development or registration requirements?

Absolutely. Clinical supervision is recognised as a valuable part of CPD by most professional bodies. We ensure that we keep formal documentation of hours and topics covered for your records.
